Sports Diplomacy Advisory Council

Stephanie is an Australian sports presenter. She began her television career with SBS, and later worked for the Nine Network and Fox Sports before joining the ABC. She also regularly hosts pre and post-match functions at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium. Stephanie is an ambassador and student mentor for the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation, an ambassador for the Chappell Foundation, and was previously the family ambassador of the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association.

Tony is an experienced football administrator and current Chief Executive of Perth Glory FC. His previous positions include Chief Executive of Football Federation Victoria, Sydney FC and inaugural Chief Executive of Wellington Phoenix FC in the A-League. Prior to working in sport, Tony worked in the banking and telecommunications sectors. 

Caitlin is one of Australia’s leading experts on soft power and sports diplomacy, and was one of the key contributors to the Sports Diplomacy 2030 strategy. She is the Director of the Griffith Asia Institute at Griffith University, and a Faculty Fellow of the University of Southern California's Centre for Public Diplomacy. 

Petero is a former rugby league player and a respected representative of Australia in the Pacific. He played for the Brisbane Broncos and then the Penrith Panthers, and more recently has been instrumental in bringing Fijian team the Kaiviti Silks into the NSW Rugby league competition. Petero is also a proud ambassador of Deadly Choices, a health promotion initiative of the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health.

Fiona is a lawyer, a former Australian triathlete and a long-time member of the Olympic community. She has been involved in five Australian Olympic teams, first as an athlete, and later as Director of Sport, and then Secretary-General of the Australian Olympic Committee. Fiona also supported the Youth Olympic teams of 2010 and 2012.

Kimberlee is as a former Australian international netball player. She was the captain of the Giants Netball team in the Suncorp Super Netball league and represented the Australian national netball team on 74 occasions.  During her international career, Kimberlee has won a bronze medal at the 2009 World Netball Series in Manchester, and a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, a gold medal at the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore and a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Dr Hamdorf has held a number of roles within the NSW State Government Office of Sport, including Executive Director, Sport Development and Recreation and Executive Director, Sport. In these roles, Dr Hamdorf worked with partners in the sports sector to develop and implement sustainable sport and recreation programs across the community. 

Curtis claimed gold in his very first appearance as an elite para-canoeing competitor at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. Prior to that, he was a combat engineer with the Australian Army, completing deployments in East Timor, Indonesia and Afghanistan. Curtis was named as an Ambassador of the Invictus Games Sydney  2018 and is currently in training to defend his title at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Anna is an Australian track cyclist champion and the most decorated female track cyclist of all time. Her sporting achievements include 11 world titles, multiple Commonwealth Games medals, and medals at four consecutive Olympic Games, including golds at Athens in 2004, and London in 2012. In 2020, she was appointed a member of the Australian leadership team for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Danielle is a former field hockey player and a member of the Hockeyroos team that won gold at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. With a professional background in finance and commerce, Danielle has had key roles overseeing the administration and governance of numerous sporting organisations including the Oceania Hockey Federation, Hockey Australia, and the St Kilda Football Club. She is currently the Chairperson of the National Australia Day Council. 

Joe Roff is currently the Chief Executive Officer at John James Foundation an independent medical charity based in Canberra providing medical specialist volunteers to remote Australian communities.  Joe has previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer for the University of Canberra Union and was also the director of workforce development with Lifeline Australia.  He is a former Wallaby playing 86 test matches, was a member of the World Cup winning team in 1999 and represented Australia at three World Cups.  Joe was selected in the Australian team of the decade for the 90’s.  After his international rugby career, he went on to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, where he played in two Varsity matches at Twickenham in 2006, captaining the side in 2007.

Lisa is an Australian cricket legend, playing a pivotal role in the championship-winning teams of two World Cups, two World T20 tournaments, and the 2001 and 2011 Ashes series. She also captained the Australian One Day International side against New Zealand in 2006. Since retiring from competition in 2013, Lisa has worked as a commentator for three Australian commercial television stations, and Melbourne’s 116 SEN. In 2020, she was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame.

Gavin is a former Australian Rules footballer who spent 15 years competing at an elite level, first with Essendon and then later with Port Adelaide, where he was the team’s inaugural Captain. He is a two-time Premiership winner, a member of the AFL Hall of Fame, and the 1993 recipient of the Brownlow Medal, the AFL’s award for the fairest and best player of the season. Gavin is a descendant of the Kokatha people of the Western Desert in South Australia. While still a professional footballer, he began exploring his ancestral links through art and is now acclaimed as a contemporary Indigenous artist. He is a proud supporter of Aboriginal communities through his work with Deadly Choices and the AFL’s Flying Boomerangs Indigenous youth team.
